Flex it while you can!

Flexibility Training

Everyone desires a good physique or strives to improve their stamina in their daily life goals and activities. There’s nothing wrong in wanting so many positives. But what good is that physique and stamina if you lack functionality?

Functionality is actually the flexibility of your muscles to move freely around the joints to avoid its wear and tear in daily life activities.

You might want to ask me, why is it so important to be flexible when you might not even use your flexibility in your day to day life. That’s where our thinking goes wrong, because we actually know that it is a flexible body that helps our muscles move freely and avoid pains across all the joints and muscles in our bodies.

In simple words, your body has an outer layer of covering right from the crown of your head to the sole of your feet. This outer layer or covering is called as your fascia tissue which provides mobility to all the moving muscles in your body.

If this tissue is not flexed from time to time, it will lose it’s elasticity. So now you know how important it is to focus on flexibility training.

You can do your mobility drills before any workout to warm your muscles. But always stretch them by performing flexibility training exercises at the end of your workout.

If you perform flexing your muscles before your workout, they might relax and you might not have the best performance of the day as you would want your muscles to be more active and not relaxed during your workout.

So the next time you think about training your muscles for getting a good physic, remember the golden principle – ‘Flexibility leads to functionality.’

Don’t let go of that Stamina!

Stamina Training

Do you remember those golden days when you used to run miles, or walk for hours, or do activities the entire day and still never ran out of stamina. Were you different or did you lose your super powers down the years.

Things have changed, haven’t they? Today running a mile or walking more than an hour might seem like climbing a mountain. But the worst part about it is feeling demotivated and disappointed in yourself and knowing the only person to blame is you.

What did you do or what you didn’t that made you different?

To start off, you’ve neglected yourself every single day and maybe thrived on food, entertainment or mere pleasure. Maybe this is the reason why you did not realise the changes taking place in your body and suddenly one fine day when you stand in front of the mirror, you don’t recognise yourself.

But is neglecting your stamina directly proportional to feeling tired or making you overweight? The answer is yes!

The reason you are less active today in comparison to your better self years ago, is only because you stopped pushing yourself every single day and stopped measuring your performance every week.

Do not feel disheartened, because if you are less active today, maybe a month from now you can make better changes if you want to.

Choose whatever activity suits you best whether it is walking, cycling, running, sprinting or even skipping. But just make sure that you’re consistent every single day and you increase the intensity of your activity every week.

Your decision to get better every week will keep you motivated and in no time you will once again be in your best possible shape and feel more active.

Just go out and get going!

Fitness Redefined…

Importance of Fitness

Everyone has their own definition of fitness or being fit.

To have a better perception, I invited my friends over for a healthy evening snack. Each of them had a different background in fitness and they were all physically fit.

As we got into the discussion of what Fitness really is, I had an assumption that we would all be on the same page. But that’s not how our discussion of over an hour ended.

One of them started of by saying, that the best way to be fit is to play a sport, while others said that there was no better way to be fit than joining a gym. There were others who went on saying that even a morning or an evening walk on a daily basis is more than enough to stay fit and active.

I wasn’t pleased with the discussion, as I genuinely wanted an answer. I too, have been into sports, gyming and various other fitness activities like martial arts and I understood that the answer I tried finding outside, was lying inside.

All I had to do was ask myself a few questions and I was 100% sure that the answer wasn’t far away. So I began interrogating myself and the first question that popped up was, why would someone want to be physically fit?

Without a doubt, I realised that this was a much better question than what Fitness really is. Well, my answer to that was simple, an individual would want to be fit either to stay healthy or either to benefit from some performance related activity like sports or gyming.

I guess that’s all I had to know to get myself in the right direction on my fitness journey. Because at the end of the day, it’s not what you want, but what you need, that will get you to the top.
